The Musee Magritte, opened in June 2009, has the biggest collection of the surrealist pioneer’s paintings and drawings. Housed in the five-level-neoclassical Hotel Altenloh, on the Place Royale you will find some 200 original Rene Magritte paintings, drawings and sculptures. The multidisciplinary permanent installation is the biggest Magritte archive anywhere, most of the work being from the collection of the artists widow Georgette Magritte.

Additionally, the Musee Magritte includes some of Magritte’s experiments with photography in the 1920’s and the short surrealist films he made from 1956 and onwards.

This museum is definitely worth a visit, as Rene Magritte is a world famous artists with very interesting work.
