The ‘drawing room of Europe’, as Napoleon refers to it, is an experience within itself. Only by standing in the square you can see some of Venice’s most beautiful and historical sites: St. Mark’s Basilica (Basilica de San Marco), the Doge’s Palace and the Torre dell’Orologio, the famous clock tower and the Campanila, for a birds-eye-view over Venice.

After visiting these major attractions, The piazza de San Marco houses many (often overpriced, yet charming) cafes, and if you are with children there are vendors selling bird-food, to feed the thousands of pigeons in the square, for assured fun.
